Different types of windows to get information on before you buy.

When it comes to windows there’s many types out there. Here in Columbus at Ohio’s Best Home Improvement we offer Provia which is made right here in Ohio. They also come with a lifetime warranties to the home, and many shapes and styles.

Double Hung

The most popular type of windows are double hung. It comes with an upper and lower sash, that can be moved up and down independently. Also tilts in for easy cleaning. They would be super helpful on the second story homes for ease of cleaning purposes.

Slider Windows

These windows function horizontally which was a favorite in the mid-century (left-right). They come in many styles including 2- and 3- units where 2 sashes move horizontally. Wherever your house needs ventilation, these windows would be perfect.

Casement & Awning Windows

The only difference between the two is the position of the hinge. They both have a single sash that’s hinged and cranks to shut and open. These windows would work great in areas that interfere with the ability to open or shut.

Hopper Windows

Hopper windows only open inward from the top. When you want a bit of sunlight and ventilation where you don’t want people looking in, these would be the best option.

Picture Window

Picture windows are stationary windows that work well where you don’t want to open to interfere with the exterior landscaping or features like decks and walkways. It’s a great way to highlight your beautiful outside scenery.

Garden Window

It’s been a long-standing favorite as a kitchen window right behind the sink. Garden windows are ideal for bringing in extra light and providing space to grow small plants and herbs. Also available with 1 or 2 adjustable glass shelves.

Bay & Bow Window

The difference between a bay and a bow is simple: A standard bay requires a larger window flanked on each side by a more narrow window, with each set at an angle. The center and side windows can be fixed with double hung or casement. A bow window is configured with four or more windows of equal size set angles to create an arched projection. A bay window you can fix individually instead of the whole window.

Architectural Window

Custom window shapes are called architectural windows. Which are a great way to increase curb appeal. Also allows for more natural light to brighten your space.
